The Role:

IBISWorld is looking for a Senior Accountant to take ownership of our month‑end and year-end close, uphold trial balance accuracy and drive budgeting and forecasting for four international entities. You’ll serve as IBISWorld’s financial accuracy expert, ensuring statutory integrity and maintaining strong controls that enable smooth financial operations. You will work directly with our Staff Accountant to support key accounting activities while driving efficient and scalable accounting processes.

Reporting to the Global VP of Finance, you will bring effective communication skills, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple projects. We are seeking someone with a solid technical accounting foundation who is both adaptable and curious, with exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

·       Work closely with Global SVP and VP of Finance to achieve overall department goals.

·       Partner with and support the Staff Accountant, reviewing completed work and guidance as needed.

·       Own the month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards.

·       Maintain trial balance accuracy by preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.

·       Prepare, review, and maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules to validate account balances.

·       Own budgeting and forecasting activities across assigned entities.

·       Provide variance analysis and insights to support financial planning and statutory accuracy.

·       Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation.

·       Lead the external financial audit, including preparation of requested materials, daily auditor communication and coordination of all audit responses.

·       Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes across geographies and enhance the efficiency of month‑end close.

·       Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth financial operations and accurate reporting. 

·       Act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding financial processes and controls.

·       Assist with other projects as required.

 

 Key Requirements:

·       Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA qualified a plus.

·       5-7 years of progressive accounting experience. Multi-entity and international exposure preferred.

·       Strong understanding of GAAP. Experience with AIFRS and UK GAAP is an advantage.

·       Extensive, hands‑on ownership of month‑end and year‑end close processes, along with balance sheet reconciliations.

·       Proven ability to support budgeting and forecasting cycles through precise financial inputs, variance analysis, and coordination of planning activities.

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.

·       Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

·       Ability to manage multiple deadlines across countries and time zones.

·       Demonstrated critical thinking skills, sound judgement and effective self-management.

·       Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally at all levels.

·       Detail orientated and precise.

·       Flexible adaptable and resourceful team player, committed to high quality work.

·       High ethical standards and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

·       Experience with NetSuite Accounting software a plus.

·       This role will require international travel at specific times of the year.

 

Compensation: USD 90-110k
